Are you thinking of starting a personal photography project? Do you have a personal photography project on the go? Are personal photography projects worth the time they require? In this workshop Neil Ever Osborne walks participants through a series of his own personal projects including a project that culminates with a meeting with a National Geographic Editor in Washington, DC. The outcome will surprise you. Neil’s story might just convince you to start your own personal project.
Famed photo essayist Eugene Smith said, “Photography is a small voice, at best, but sometimes—just sometimes—one photograph or a group of them can lure our senses into awareness.”
The photo essay is a form of visual storytelling that presents an overarching narrative through a series of images. Structured with the right “visual ingredients”, a photo essay can immerse audiences into your story, with the intent to evoke emotion and elicit action on an issue of concern. Participants will be exposed to exemplary photo essays and have a chance to reflect on their own photographic works.
